Lviv is an open-air museum. Everything narrow medieval streets paved with cobblestone, architectural decoration of different styles retains in their original state. Centuries ago Lviv was the capital of Halych-Volhynian principality. Than fact of being first a part of Austria-Hyngary Empire then of Poland made its Ukrainian essence. Thanks to God, unlike other Ukrainian cities, delicate architecture of Lviv did not suffer from the monstrosities of Soviet times. Therefore the citys central part, not without reason, is included into UNESCOs list of World Legacy. After all it is possible, in this open-air museum, to feast somebodys eyes upon immovable monuments of different ages created by combination of numerous national cultural traditions. The citys subtle Bohemia environment always attracts original individuals here as a magnet. Quite a lot of geniuses were among them. Adam Mitskevych a Polish poet, Mykhaylo Grushevsky a Ukrainian historian and philosopher, Rudolf Vigel a biologist an inventor of typhus vaccine, Shalom Aleikhem a classic of Jewish literature, Stanislav Lem an outstanding science-fiction writer of XX century and many others sought for inspiration to creation and scientific work. It is said that they were sitting sipping Lvivs flavoured coffee when muses accompanied them and new ideas came into their minds. It could be so that it is worth for you to also try? Who knows, it may be so that all of a sudden the old city would cast an usual decision over you. The city of Lviv was founded in XIII century. Lviv preserves numerous monuments of culture anf folk architecture of different ages among which the most famous ones are St. Mykolai Church (XIII century), the Armenian Cathedral of XIV-XV centuries, the Bernard Monastery and Roman Catholic Church, the Rynok Square (XIV-XIX centuries). The city of Lion became a home for many religions. Over centuries orthodox Christians peacefully coexisted with Catholics, Greek Catholics welcomed Jews. It may be so that there in not such architectural style which would be impossible to learn about having Lvivs temples as a sample. In the Middle Ages they were also the centers of music and construction of organs Lviv was famous for along with such cities as Krakiv, Warsaw, Viulnus.
